The family Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign is an annual giving campaign conducted at the Pack and Troop level between the months of January thru March. The unit presentation is conducted at a Pack or Troop meeting by unit and district Scouters. The objective of the presentation is to inform parents on how Scouting dollars are raised and spend back into their son's program. This presentation is also an opportunity for the parents to make a financial contribution to show their support of the program and the council's efforts to continue Scouting in the future.
In November or December the District Family Friends of Scouting Chairman will call on your unit to select a date in February or March to have the Family Friends of Scouting presentation. Allow about 10 minutes for the presentation. Your Unit will receive a unit flag. Individual contributors will have the opportunity to participate at different levels to receive a collector's edition Norman Rockwell Mug, a new Norman Rockwell Collectors Plate. The new fill it up patch, new Collectable Friends of Scouting council strip and cool key chain. If you want to make a donation now to the Black Swamp Area Council?

2009 Tenth Black Swamp ClassicOne of the responsibilities of the council and district finance committees is to work out a plan for keeping units finance and to approve proposed unit money-earning projects.
It is important that the unit committee understands its responsibility for guiding the finances of the unit. It promotes the proper use of the unit budget plan, both as a sound method of securing unit funds and also as a means of training boys in thrift, in paying their own way, and in the planning and wise administration of unit funds.
The unit committee also guides the unit in earning money for such Scouting needs as camping trips and unit equipment. Unit committees need to be informed of policies concerning unit money-earning projects. These policies protect both the character development values of the program and the good name of Scouting.
